Presumably the MT Power Drum Kit is actually a VSTi (instrument) not a VST effect plugin. As such it can't be used in Audition which isn't.

I have my Yamaha DTX-3 electronic drum kit plugged in via MIDI to my laptop which runs Reaper and has the MT Power Drumkit. I had to change the MIDI mapping to get the snare and low tom to work.
Question is: is there more than one drum sound I can use within MT Power Drumkit? I see how to change the volume, pan and compressor level in the mixer, but is that it?I would like to record some drum tracks and have the ability to go back later (after other instruments are recorded) and adjust the way the drums sound in the mix. Would this involve trying different VST instruments with the same MIDI file (and re-mapping those VST instruments to work with what the drum set records as) or is there another VST I should be using that has multiple sounds, or is there a way to do this within MT Power Drumkit? FWIW I'm looking for acoustic-sounding drums. MT Power Drums only comes with 1 kit.It is fantastic, but it is also free, so you can't expect so much. There are many many drum libraries and VSTs out there that support different drum kits.
EzDrummer is very popular, but there is also Superior Drummer and Addictive Drums. These are paid plugins, but I have been using Superior Drummer for a good 5 years now and it's absolutely worth it. The others are just as good, it depend upon which one you like:)There are other drum plugins and VSTs beyond the ones that I mentioned, of course.
You should check them out. Generally it is quite easy to tell if you can change the samples being used from the explanation of the product:)From how you describe wanting to use the software, I think you may well appreciate some of the functions available in Superior Drummer 3. Though it isn't cheap.
I tried downloading this but it's all really confusing. I spent a few hours on it yesterday and got annoyed with the idea that all of that time could have been used for practicing and recording.
I was ready to give up and just record the audio signal from the drum kit.Later I grew more patient and decided to stick with the MIDI drum route, but just use MT Power Drums since I was eventually able to figure that out.Now I'm again leaning towards Drum Mica, because it's really what I want with the ability to change how the drums are mic'd to simulate various options for recorded acoustic drums. So, I'm going to try again. Just to make sure I understand how it works (I probably don't): Kontakt is the VST instrument used by Reaper. I would select this the same way I select MT Power Drums now. Then Drum Mica is a plug-in for Kontakt?. OK thanks, I'll give it another try tonight. The drum set communicates through MIDI by assigning each pad (or zone within the pad for the multi-zone cymbals and snare) to a note. I could not figure out a way to change what note each pad represents through the drum set processor/brain, so hopefully there is a way to change this through Kontakt or Drummica.
For MT Power Drums they all worked by default except the snare, then I found the 'settings' screen where I could select the snare, hit the pad, and it would change the note associated with the snare to be what was input from the drum kit. Hopefully there is something similar within Drummica or Kontakt.
